What is the outdoor classroom project?Outdoor Classroom Fundamentals:
1. Children connect to the natural world and learn from what nature has to teach us. 2. Learning occurs everywhere and all the time. 3. Almost all indoor activities for children can be done outside, where they are often even more effective. 3. Teacher-supported, rich learning environments facilitate activities that are child-initiated, hands-on, interactive and engaging. 4. Children need a connection to nature in order to be whole, and it helps them build a healthy internal psychology with time spent alone. 5. Being outdoors increases the ways of developing an interest in reading and writing, fosters an interest in science and math and encourages healthy habits by providing opportunities for vigorous physical activity. |

Do you remember a time when coming inside before dark was unheard of? When chasing butterflies, and exploring your own backyard was the highlight of your childhood? Do you remember the tree forts? mud kitchens? and countless hours outside? Do you remember the feelings of pride, and self confidence at every branch of the tree, or puddle cleared?
Heritage desires to provide similar experiences and much more to the children of our next generation! With a natural, and inviting outdoor yard, we provide children with the opportunity to discover more about themselves, their environment, and intertwine all concepts needed to address the growth of the "whole child".
With learning areas such as: Garden, Nature Art Area, Messy/Digging Area, Animal Area, Exploration, Climbing, TeePees, Tunnels, water access, and an open picnic and relaxing area.
Heritage desires to provide a stimulating and engaging outdoor learning environment to the community and our preschool students.
